This course offers a course on the prevention of natural radiation during oil refining and extraction. Radiation protection science is dedicated to protecting people—both professionals and the public—as well as nuclear and radiological facilities, in addition to safeguarding the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation caused by electromagnetic radiation and accelerated particles of various energies. Natural radiation is present in oil production activities, where oil is extracted along with quantities of water. This can lead to the deposition of radon on the internal walls of production equipment in the form of "scales of radium or barium," as well as in the form of solid residues (mixed with sand and silt) within the oil and surface containers.
